Gazipur Metropolitan Police Honors Officers for Successful Anti-Drug Operations Gazipur Metropolitan Police has awarded officers from various units in recognition of their significant contribution to drug recovery operations, arrest of accused individuals, and maintaining law and order in the area. On 13 May 2026, a formal award ceremony was held by Gazipur Metropolitan Police. During the event, officers involved in recent successful anti-narcotics operations were officially recognized and honored by the Police Commissioner. Notable operations include: ▪ In a drug bust conducted by GMP Konabari Police Station, officers recovered approximately 64 kg 800 grams of cannabis and 12 bottles of foreign liquor, worth around BDT 1.3 million, and arrested two drug traffickers. ▪ In a special operation by GMP Sadar Police Station, around 2,149 pieces of Yaba tablets valued at approximately BDT 650,000 were seized along with BDT 37,700 in cash. ▪ In a separate anti-narcotics drive by Kashimpur Police Station, 10 drug dealers were arrested, and heroin weighing around 150 grams along with 30 Yaba tablets, valued around BDT 800,000, were recovered. Officials involved in these operations, including the Deputy Commissioner (Crime) North, Assistant Commissioner (Crime) Sadar Zone, Officer-in-Charge of Sadar, Konabari, and Kashimpur police stations, along with other officers, were recognized for their professionalism, efficiency, and dedication. The awards were formally handed over by the Additional Police Commissioner (Administration & Finance), Mr. Mohammad Taherul Haque Chowhan, and the Additional Police Commissioner (Crime & Operations), Mr. Mohammad Belayet Hossain, on behalf of the Police Commissioner.
